Pripyat The Ghost Town

The town of Pripyat attracts many visitors because it is a true ghost town. People left in a rush leaving personal items behind. It has been as they left it for 20 years. While there has been some vandalism it is very minimal due to the health risk of being inside the exclusion zone. There is a bridge know as the bridge of death. People would stand on it to look at the reactor melting down because it had a great view inside the crack of the reactor that could actually see the glowing melt-down. These people were killed by radiation poisoning within a few weeks. Trees are a huge danger in the exclusion zone because they bring up radiation from the contaminated soil beneath them. The “Red Forest” consisted of trees that were so irradiated they were said to have glowed red at night. Getting close to the reactor building requires protective gear. Some daring people have gone inside the building and the reactor and taken videos.
